Carter Shows History

Carter shows was formed in 1936 by a man called Ernie Carter. In 1976 the show was purchased by Jerry O'neil and from there the company began to grow into what it is today, and this is where the story begins.

Today Carter Shows is a thriving family orientated show that employes a staff of 40-50 people. Winter quarters and workshops are located in Thamesville Ontario where local residents are familiar with the site of carnival rides set up in Jerry's front yard.

Visit the rides page for pictures of the many exciting and fun rides.

Our Courteous Staff

Our staff of well-trained professionals works our equipment from two sides. Our industry is a labour intensive one, and we would not be able to continue our operations if it weren’t for the hard working men and women who erect, operate, and dismantle our equipment. Our operators are clean, courteous, and well trained. We offer them private living quarters, on site washrooms, and valuable life skills. Combine this team with our ever-evolving office staff, and you have, in our opinion, the best crew in the industry.

Our Operational & Safety Policies

In order to keep such a clean and safe environment, we have a number of guidelines for all of our employees to follow. This ensures a comfortable, consistence visit for our patrons every time they. Our polices include:

  • No Smoking polices for our operators
  • Strict hair, and facial piercing codes
  • No Profanity policies
  • Strict Daily & Weekly inspection schedules for all of our rides
  • Weekly Ontario Hydro inspections

Our Plan For The Future

At Carter Shows, our plan for the future is simple. We believe that the customers are the future; “No customers – No future!” So we go to great lengths to make sure our customers are as satisfied as possible, to ensure we have a grand future. We start by offering the most affordable coupon and “pay one price” specials in the market. On top of that we offer them a plethora of amenities to make their stay more enjoyable, including:

  • Comfortable park benches for patrons to rest their feet
  • Colourful Gazebos for customers to escape the sun
  • Affordable prices that put a smile on anyone’s face
  • Trees and Streetlights for a cozy atmosphere
  • On site washrooms for convenience
  • Wheelchair assessable ramps over rough terrain
  • Clean and safe rides for piece of mind
  • A friendly and helpful staff

It is these small details that accent the big picture, and makes someone’s visit to our midway a memorable one.
